Healthy Homemade Strawberry Daiquiris (Paleo option, GF)

Grain-free, Dairy-free

When I think of summer, I think of sitting by the pool with a drink in hand… preferably something fruity yet tangy like one of these Healthy Homemade Strawberry Daiquiris. πŸ™‚ I do think of other things when I think of summer too… like the beach, BBQs, popsicles, mangos, cherries… the list goes on! BUT laying out by the pool with a drink in my hand makes me think of a summer vacation.

And that is exactly what these Healthy Homemade Strawberry Daiquiris remind me of… summer vacation! They taste like a sweet yet sour strawberry slushy ( with a kick) and are made of all natural whole ingredients.

Healthy Homemade Strawberry Daiquiris | Perchance to Cook,

I’ve been really loving making healthier cocktails and other fun drinks lately.

It’s nice knowing exactly what I’m drinking and putting into my body. And it’s also really nice how much more delicious the drinks turn out to be!

I don’t know if it’s just me, but all those pre-made mixes taste so “off” and chemically to me. The best drinks that I’ve had have been homemade, and I LOVE when bars/ restaurants make drinks with all natural ingredients.

However, making it at home is always my favorite way so I’ve been experimenting a lot in the kitchen. (lucky me and lucky husband haha)

So far I’ve made…

All Natural PiΓ±a Coladas (Paleo)

Homemade Clean Irish Cream Liqueur

And now these Healthy Homemade Strawberry Daiquiris. πŸ™‚

The main ingredients here are frozen strawberries, lime juice, lemon juice and rum ( though the alcohol can be optional).

I also made a “honey syrup” by mixing hot water into honey to make something similar to the sweet syrups that are used to make drinks in general.

Healthy Homemade Strawberry Daiquiris | Perchance to Cook,

What’s great about the honey syrup is that you can add a light honey sweetness to the drink, without having the honey freeze up and clump in the cold liquid.

The taste of strawberries dominate in this drink, and then there is a sour kick from the lime and lemon juice. So good!

I made these a few times and my husband and I have been enjoying them by the pool, even though they melt very quickly in the Florida heat.

I guess we just have to drink them a little more quickly πŸ™‚ Cheers!

Servings: 2
Author: Dominique | Perchance to Cook
  • 1 cup ice
  • 10 ounces frozen whole strawberries ( 10 ounces was the same as 2.5 cups for me)
  • a scant 1/4 cup lime juice ( this was the juice of 1 lime for me)
  • a scant 1/4 cup lemon juice ( this was the juice of 1 lemon for me)
  • Β½ cup rum ( don't use rum to keep Paleo)
  • 2 Tbs hot water
  • 2 Tbs honey
  1. Mix 2 Tbs of honey with 2 Tbs of hot water to make a β€œhoney syrup”. Mix until the honey is dissolved and set the bowl aside.

  2. Put the ice, frozen strawberries, lemon juice, lime juice and rum into a blender until well mixed. Add the honey syrup, mix again.

  3. Note: you can also make these virgin.
