Paleo Frozen Hot Chocolate (GF)

Paleo Frozen Hot Chocolate (GF) | Perchance to Cook

I have been experimenting with Paleo recipes a lot lately. Which is how all of this came about. I was trying to make a Paleo chocolate milkshake… and ended up with a Paleo frozen hot chocolate. This was a pleasant surprise because I love frozen hot chocolate! It reminds me of the first one that I had at the famous Serendipity restaurant in NYC. If you haven’t been and are headed to NYC, you need to go! Theres always a long line, but its worth the wait. This recipe is wonderful because you not only get to eat a frozen hot chocolate from the comfort of your own home, but you also get to eat one that is Paleo! Double Score! honestly don’t know why I was surprised when the ingredients that I was putting into the blender did not result in a milkshake… I was using a hot chocolate recipe as inspiration after all. I followed the recipe for a perfect cup of hot chocolate on the Hershey’s cocoa powder box and replaced everything non-paleo with a paleo alternative. The result was delicious, satisfying, and fun! (minus the brain freeze haha) If you need something sweet and are trying to follow a Paleo diet, this is definitely worth a try :) Did I mention that it tastes like frozen hot chocolate?! Now back to the Paleo milkshake drawing board… :)

Paleo Frozen Hot Chocolate
Serves: 1
  • 2 Tbs honey
  • 2 Tbs natural unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1¼ cup coconut milk
  • ¼ tsp vanilla
  • about 1 cup of ice-- add more if you want it to have more of a "slushy" consistency
  1. Put all the ingredients (minus the ice) in a blender and mix until everything seems well blended. Then add the ice and blend again until the ice is crushed.

  1. Oh my goodness this is delicious! Finally, an easy Paleo dessert that doesn’t really taste like a paleo dessert! Yummy!

  2. Struggling today, the cravings for something sweet driving me nuts (don’t normally crave sweets). The family eating ice cream did not help! I went searching for a paleo frozen hot chocolate. AHHH…this did the trick…so yummy and chocolate! Was perfect and so glad I found your blog.

    1. Thanks for the comment! You’re lucky that you don’t normally crave sweets because that is all I crave! haha So glad the frozen hot chocolate did the trick. :)

    1. I’ve been experimenting with different flavor variations. I’ve been really liking 2 Tbs honey, 2 Tbs cocoa, 1 cup of coconut cream, 1/2 tsp vanilla and 1.5 cups of ice. Maybe test it out with 1 Tbs cocoa. I also have tried adding frozen strawberries, which makes the cocoa flavor a bit less. :)
